Jewell Harold Hallmon

Surrounded by his family at the home he called his "paradise in the woods", Harold Hallmon, 67, went to be with the Lord on Tues. July 31, 2007. He was born September 25, 1939 in Lafayette, AL to Jewell P. and Lillie Pearl (Lee) Hallmon, but resided in Bay County for most of his life. Mr. Hallmon was a Christian and was Baptist by faith. He grew up in St. Andrews and attended Bay High School, graduating in 1957. He also attended Gulf Coast Community College. He married Anna Jane Stephens, and together they had four children. All of his adult life Mr. Hallmon had a passion for flying and owned and flew several small planes, with his latest one being an ultralight. In his early years he worked at Sunshine Grocery, Retail Credit Co., and also served for a time in the Army National Guard, before finding his true calling as a master carpenter. For over 30 years, he strived for the highest of excellence in his skill, which he passed on to his two sons. His beautiful finish work is seen in many of the fine homes and businesses in this area. In recent years, Mr. Hallmon finely crafted grandfather clocks for all of his children. He was preceded in death by his parents and an infant granddaughter, Emily Destin. He is survived by his beloved wife of 46 years, Anna, along with their four children and their spouses: Hal and Kim Hallmon of Panama City, FL, Kim and Phillip Destin of Destin, FL, John and Betty Hallmon of Panama City, FL and Amanda and Steven Victory of Killeen, TX. His grandchildren include Justin Mills, Valerie Hayslip, Kheyndra Peak, Korrie Peak, Daniel Destin, Jessica Hallmon, Aaron Destin, Isaiah Victory, and "Baby Victory" to be born later this year. He also has 3 great-grandchildren. Mr. Hallmon is also survived by one brother and his wife, Charlie and Mary Hallmon. A visitation with the family will be held at Wilson Funeral Home on Wed. Aug. 1,2007 from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thurs. Aug. 2, 2007 at the Wilson Chapel at 4 :00 p.m. Interment will follow at Greenwood Cemetery. The family extends a special thank-you to the kind nurses, doctors, and others who cared for Mr. Hallmon at Bay Medical Center, especially those on the fifth floor. We also wish to thank Covenant Hospice for their special care and concern. Mr. Hallmon was a kind, humble, and gentle man and will be greatly missed by those who knew him. May you fly again and may the face of God shine upon you.
