Jerry David Strickland went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 30, 2023. He was born to Loyce and Evelyn Strickland on January 16, 1943, in Panama City Florida.
He was preceded in death by his son Parrish Strickland, parents Loyce and Evelyn Strickland, sister Lydia Hughes, brother Richard Strickland, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Jerry is survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Bedsole Strickland, daughter Marlean Strickland, Son Guy, and wife Christina Strickland of Panama City. One sister Gayle Lynch and husband Alex of Panama City. Grandchildren: Devin Klaymeier of Pike Creek, TX, Nathan Klaymeier of San Antonio TX, Summerlyn Strickland Williams and husband Richard of Panama City, Taylor Strickland and wife Baylee of Shalimar, FL, Gracie Strickland of Birmingham, AL, Owen Strickland of Tallassee, AL., Collin Jones of Tallassee, AL Great Grandchildren, Lyla, Charlie, and Lemon.
Jerry graduated from Bay High School in 1961, and served in the National Guard. He then went into industrial construction as a Boilermaker and superintendent. His hobbies included: fishing, pig farming, shrimping, honey bees, chickens and anything else he wanted to create or learn how to do.
Jerry loved his family, loved his friends, and loved life. He had a strong work ethic and put everything into what he did.
Jerry loved to work with his hands. He loved to create and build things. When he was unsure of how to go about a project, he would always seems to figure it out. He loved his church and he loved helping others. He assisted in the development of the Helping Hands Ministry which helped those who were in need of wheelchair ramps and those needing overall assistance with their homes and everyday life.
Jerry was always the life of the party, with stories he had to tell of his growing up years. He will be so missed and never forgotten.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 3, 2023 at 12 noon in the Hiland Park Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 11 a.m. to 12 noon prior to the service. Private family interment will be held in the Bayou George Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorial donations be made to the Helping Hands Ministry or the Building Fund at Hiland Park Baptist Church in memory of Jerry Strickland.
