Obituary

On Sunday March 13, 2022, Jed Karey Vaughn passed away in Orlando, Florida at 87 years old.  He was born September 18, 1934, in Huntsville, Alabama.  Jed was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Franklin Vaughn, his beloved wife Bebe Harris Vaughn, his son John Harris Vaughn and his granddaughter Bebe Michelle Schiefer.

He is survived by his children Leslie Schiefer (Robb), Jed K Vaughn Jr (Marci), Jason Vaughn (Kelly), Shelley Adams (Donald); 12 grandchildren Robert P. Schiefer (Shannon), Derek Schiefer (Christina), Karen Sterett (Sam), Jed K Vaughn III, Zachary Vaughn (Alex), Elijah Vaughn, Jesse Vaughn, Morgan Schisler (Kyle), Nick Adams, Ben Adams (Brittany), Maddy Adams, Zoe Vaughn;14 Great Grandchildren  Alyssa, Carrington, Hudson, Evelyn, Emery, Cohen, Andersen, Greyson, Lilly, Nolan, Rowan, Landon, Henry and future great grandson Shepherd.

Jed grew up in Huntsville, Alabama. He graduated from Howard College,  now Samford University, with a degree in Pharmacy. While at Howard, he met and married the love of his life, Bebe Harris. He operated his many businesses in the Birmingham, Alabama area. With the Lords leading, he transitioned from a businessman to a life of ministry. They moved to Florida and after years of leading Bible studies and teaching he founded and was Pastor of Living Word Fellowship in Panama City, Florida. After retiring from full time ministry,  he continued to share Jesus, whether it was in his home, at The Vineyard Church, or any opportunity that was presented.

He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, Pastor, teacher and friend. His life was characterized by his faith and his love of sharing Jesus with others.  He loved reading and memorizing the Bible.

Jed always made time to be with his family whether it was a day at the beach, a ballgame, a school play, or cherished family meal. Jed's grandchildren and great grandchildren called him "Big Daddy" a name that made him smile and suited him perfectly. Jed loved his wife, Bebe, more than life itself. Their sweet love was evident to all who knew them throughout their 64 years of marriage.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 16, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service.  Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
