JEANETTE SMITH JOHNSON

Jeanette Smith Johnson, 91, of Panama City, passed away December 23, 2013 in her home. She was born June 24, 1922 in Panama City, Florida. She was a 1941 graduate of Bay High School. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama city, where she was a member of the Susan Kimball Sunday School Class. She was also a member of the Garden Club, where she was involved in the Oleander Circle. She was past state president for the Florida federation of Postal Workers. She was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny Winston Johnson Sr., parents, Y.E. and Daisy Smith; and brother, Tommy Smith. She is survived by two sons, Johnny Winston Johnson Jr. (Beverly) of Jay, Florida, Richard Johnson (Christie) of Panama City; daughter, Miriam Johnson Bonito (George) of Atlanta, Georgia; Nine grandchildren, Johnny Winston Johnson III, Jeannie Johnson, Julie Morris, Britt Hall, Kathy Godwin, Reid Johnson, Colleen Adams and Michael Scott Bonito, 15 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She was provided with exceptional care and love from her caregivers, Gena Carpenter and Sandy Fitzgerald. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, December 28, 2013 in the Wilson funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. A private family interment will follow. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons and great grandsons. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to service time. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bay Education foundation, 1311 Balboa Avenue, Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Jeanette Johnson.
