Jeanette Brown Elam, 94, of Panama City, Florida, died Wednesday, September 10, 2014. She has been a resident of Panama City since 1957, moving here from Geneva, Alabama. She was an active member of St. Andrew Baptist Church all these years serving in many volunteer activities of the church. She was also a retired Bay County employee. She was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew C. Brown and a son James (Jim) Brown. She was also predeceased by her late husband, Leslie L. Elam in 2001, with whom she enjoyed years of fishing. She loved gardening, sewing, reading and being a good neighbor. She is survived by her son, John C. Brown and wife Brenda, of Cleveland, Georgia, grandsons, Michael Shane Brown of Panama City, Christopher Brown and wife Stephanie of Jacksonville, Florida, Kenneth Brown and wife Amanda of Jacksonville, Florida, great-grandsons, Wyatt Brown , Tyler Brown, sisters, Hazel Dooling of Geneva, Alabama, Loraine Jeffries of Dothan, Alabama, Johnnie Daughtry of Columbus, Georgia, Sue Haywood of Geneva, Alabama, and JoAnn Dasinger of Dothan, Alabama. She was preceded in death by a step-son, Larry Elam, but is survived by daughter-in-law Judy and sons, Ryan Elam and wife Shawndy, Robert Elam and great granddaughters, Bethany Elam, Alanya Elam and Zoe Elam. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Michael Claunch officiating. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be her grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be the Friendship Sunday School Class of St. Andrew Baptist Church. Those desiring to may make donations to the Memorial Fund of St. Andrew Baptist Church in memory of Jeanette Elam.
