Obituary

Jean Jackson

Jean Marlo Jackson, 81, passed away on March 28th, 2010 after a long and courageous battle with congestive heart failure with her husband and daughter at her side at her home in Panama City, Florida.

Jean was born in Murphysboro, Illinois February 25, 1929 to the late Freda and Charles (Blondie) Marlo. Her family moved in her early years to Pine Bluff, Arkansas where she attended elementary and high schools and met the man that would become her life long husband. She graduated with honors from The University of Arkansas in Fayetteville and taught school before marrying her husband, Lt. Col. Bobby W. Jackson, USAF, Retired. This began her rewarding and fulfilling career as an Air Force wife. Jean maintained the family homes from coast to coast and border to border including a memorable three year stay in Tripoli, Libya.

Jean loved to travel and was an avid and skillful bridge player. She was a dedicated and inspiring wife and mother, always giving of herself in every way. She never met a stranger and will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. Jean was a faithful member of the Church she loved, St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, Bobby Jackson, her daughter Lynne McPeak and husband Jeff of Rockwall, Texas, two grandsons, Trent and Jason McPeak; her sister Jo Fetter and husband Tom of Tucson, Arizona; her sister-in-law Betty Gray McFarland of Harrison, Arkansas and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Monday, April 5 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. John The Evangelist Catholic Church. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5-7 p.m. on Sunday, April 4 with a rosary service to be held at 5:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, April 6 in the Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL.

The family expresses a special thank you to Dr. Bruce Josten and staff for their care and loving consideration during her illness. Another thank you to Covenant Hospice for their services, care, understanding and guidance.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jean's memory to the American Heart Association, P.O. Drawer 390, Panama City, FL 32402 or to Covenant Hospice, 107 W. 19th St., Panama City, FL 32405.
