JAQUELINE BROOKINS

Jacqueline Brookins of Lynn Haven, Florida, moved from her earthly home to her heavenly home on August 27, 2013, to be with her Savior and Lord. She was born in Fort Meade, Florida, on June 30, 1931. She was pre-deceased by her parents, Rev. Durward and Annie Sue Kilpatrick and by her son, Gregory Malone Brookins. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, James Ray Brookins; son, Kenneth Ray Brookins and wife Jennifer; two grandchildren: Clay Brookins and wife Alicia; Kristen Brown and husband Matt; and one great grandchild, Sophie Brookins. She is also survived by one sister, Gaile Bass and husband Gene of Havana, Florida; one sister-in-law, Norma Brookins Schwaderer and her husband Jim, of Panama City; three nephews, two nieces, and their families.

Jackie became a member of Immanuel Baptist Church on October 1, 1949, where she served as church pianist for twenty-five years and held other places of service in the church at various times. Besides Immanuel Baptist Church, she was a member of the Bay County Historical Society, charter member of the Panhandle Pioneer Settlement in Blountstown and a former member of the Bay County Florida Association for Home and Community Education where she was selected as Volunteer of the Year in 2004. She was also a member of the St. Andrew Bay Quilter's Guild from 1993 to 2008. During those years she made approximately sixty nap quilts for the Head Start program. She was an administrative secretary at Shaw Adult Center and retired in 1992 after twenty-seven years of service in the Bay County School system.

Visitation will be held Friday, August 30, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at Immanuel Baptist Church, 216 College Avenue, Panama City followed by the memorial service at 3 p.m. Officiating ministers will be Rev. Randy Kuhn and Rev. Chris Roberts. Interment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery (Lynn Haven Cemetery).

Active pallbearers are Gene Bass, Clay Brookins, Matt Brown, Prichard Cutshaw, Ed Kelley, and Dick Lovejoy. Honorary pallbearers are Tommy Lane, Alex Pitts, and the Immanuel Baptist Church Adult Choir. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Immanuel Baptist Church Renovation Fund, 216 College Avenue, Panama City, FL 32401, Anchorage Children's Home, 2121 Lisenby Ave, Panama City, FL 32405 or Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
