Obituary

Janis “Lynne” Davis, 68, of Kinard, FL, went home to be with her Lord on Monday, June 8, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family.

Lynne was born on March 4, 1958, in Bradenton, FL. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and woman of deep faith. After marrying the love of her life, Dan, she moved between Kinard and Panama City, where together they built a life and raised their family. Lynne and Dan shared 48 years of marriage marked by love, devotion, and steadfast commitment.

A long-time member of City Church at Northside, Lynne loved Jesus and loved people. She had an unmistakable kindness that could be felt by anyone who met her. Whether through quiet encouragement, compassion, or simply her gentle spirit, she made others feel seen and cared for.

For more than 40 years, Lynne fought a courageous battle against Multiple Sclerosis. She was a warrior in every sense of the word, facing each day with strength, perseverance, and grace. Though the disease brought many hardships, she never gave up and rarely complained, choosing instead to meet life’s challenges with quiet determination and faith.

Above all, Lynne loved her family deeply. She was a dedicated wife and mother whose greatest joy was caring for those she loved and spending time with her family.

She was preceded in death by her father, James Marcus Barbee; her great-aunts, Evelyn Gordon and Anne (Cy) Bond; and her mother-in-law, Doris Davis.

She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Dan Davis; her children, Angela Davis and Bryan (Crystal) Davis; her grandson, Cylus Davis; her mother, Doris Barbee; her siblings, Jamie Sweetman and Mark (Lea) Barbee; several nieces and nephews; and her longtime friend, Vicki Sellers.

Her family would like to offer a special thank you to the nurses and care team at Pruitthealth for the love and care they showed Lynne during the last few months of her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to City Church at Northside, 530 Airport Rd., Panama City, FL 32405.

A celebration of life service will be held on Friday, June, 12 at 11 a.m. at the City Church Annex (756 Airport Rd.), with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. A private graveside service will be held Saturday, June 13 at 10 a.m. at the Barbee Family Cemetery.
