Obituary

Janine Dale Cosson passed away peacefully on the morning of October 1, 2026. Janine graduated from Bay High School in Panama City in 1957, where she met her sweetheart, Larry Cosson. The two eloped and went on to share 70 wonderful years of marriage. They were blessed with two sons, Stephen Craig and Lawrence Gilbert. Her father, John M. Galbraith, served with distinction in the U.S. Army’s 57th Infantry Regiment, Philippine Scouts, during World War II and was captured on Bataan. Larry and Janine were true pillars of the Panama City community and faithful members of First Baptist Church. After retiring from the U.S. Army following 22 years of service, they returned to Panama City, the place they loved and called home. Janine is survived by her devoted husband, Larry; her son Lawrence Gilbert; her grandchildren Jennifer and Stephen Jr; and her great-granddaughter Annabelle Hartley. It is hard to put into words how deeply she was loved. Janine was the most consistent and steady force in our lives—a shoulder to cry on, someone to laugh with, and the warmest hug in the hardest times. She was the best person we have ever known: the light in our darkest hours and the glue that held our family together. Those who were fortunate enough to know her will always remember her as a true treasure. Please keep Janine and her family in your prayers.
