Obituary

Jane Powell Tweedy, age 84, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2024, at her home in Panama City, Florida.

Jane was the youngest of three children born to John Wesley Powell Sr. and Betty Waring Powell, on September 27, 1939 in Panama City, Florida.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 41 years, William "Bill" Tweedy, and her brother Wes Powell.  She is survived by her sister Frances Martin of Portsmouth, Virginia, her nephews, Wesley Powell of Dallas, Texas, Jeff Powell (Tammy) of Birmingham, Alabama, Raleigh Martin (Shirley) of Chesapeake, Virginia, Keith Martin (Manuela) of The Netherlands  and niece Kristina Martin Daugherty (Rick) of Kathleen, Georgia, and multiple great and great-great nephews and nieces.

She began her career as a clerk at the Panama City Water Department in 1958 and retired in 1989 as the manager.  She was an active member of First United Methodist Church in Panama City.

Jane was a cherished member of her family and a valued friend to many. Her love and devotion to her family members, as well as many friends, was boundless.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 29, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at First United Methodist Church, Panama City.  Visitation will be an hour prior to services.  Interment following at Greenwood Cemetery.

The family would like to thank Jane's caregiver, Janelle Parrish,  for her care during her illness.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to the American Cancer Society or charity of your choice.
