Obituary

Jane Hodges Hamm, 88, of Panama City, Florida passed away on June 18, 2019. Jane was Born in Mobile, Alabama on December 13, 1930 to Evelyn Adams Hodges and Dolon Ernest Hodges M.D. She graduated from Murphy High School in 1948 and the University of Alabama in 1952. While at Alabama she was a member of Kappa Delta sorority. She married John Harrison Hamm (Jack) on April 23, 1953 in St. Joseph's Chapel at Spring Hill College in Mobile, AL. After living in various cities in the Northeast and Midwest, she and Jack returned to her beloved Gulf Coast, moving to Panama City in 1969. They purchased Gulf Manufacturing Corporation and operated that business until 1980 when they opened Harbour Realty, Inc. Jane was active in the Bay County Board of Realtors for many years and served as President of the Association in 1985, she was a Realtor of the year as well. She became a Certified Financial Planner in 1989. She attended St. Andrews Episcopal Church and enjoyed her bible study there.
Jane was a dedicated mother to her four children, she loved Gulf Coast living, boating, books and the arts. She was curious and enjoyed learning throughout her life. She was an artist, writer, fabulous cook, airplane pilot and sailor. She was loving, calm, strong and wise.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Jack. She is survived by her four children, John Harrison Hamm, Jr. (Janet), Evelyn Hamm Fore, Laura Frances Hamm and Christopher McLaughlin Hamm (Kelly) and nine Grandchildren: Rebecca Hamm, Kathleen Hamm Bowen (Chad), Elizabeth Hamm and John Harrison Hamm III (Jack), Laura Fore Rogers (Keith), Julia Fore, Kelsey Hamm, Sara Hamm and Shane Hamm.
A special thanks to caregivers: Linda Wright, Savury Young , Alesha Smiley, Patti Richardson, Barbara Givens, Taquera Ming, Debora Sanderson, Renee Eubanks, and Rebecca Corona. We would also like to thank the excellent staff at Charter Memory Care and all of those who give so much to our loved ones.
There will be a private family service and celebration of life held in Point Clear, AL.
