Rev. James O. Watkins

August 12, 1940 – July 25, 2023

He went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, July 25, 2023.  James was a Pastor for 26 years. He pastored several churches through the years. He was a faithful servant to Christ and saw many lives changed by the love of Christ. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Ezra and Lorene Watkins; five sisters, Corinth Watkins, Hazel Mordelett, Olga Vann, Kate Kennedy and Daphne Jean Schillinger. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Shirley Watkins; two daughters, Trina Dumas (Leve), Teresa Adams (John); three grandsons, James Dumas, Heath Adams (Taylor), Trae Adams; two granddaughters, Brandi Parsons (Cory), Ashley Oneal (Travis); seven great grandchildren; five sisters, Lenora Tew, Bertha Garcia (Robert), Jan Lassiter, Inez Strickland (Charlie) and Patsy Muzidal. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 27, 2023 at 2 pm in the Pine Log Community Church with Rev. Howard Taylor and Rev. Dale Worley officiating. Interment will follow in the Gunlock Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Thursday from 1-2 pm prior to the service. Active pallbearers are James Dumas, Heath Adams, Trae Adams, Cory Parsons, Travis Oneal and John Kennedy.
