JAMES W. "JIM" SPIVA
James W. "Jim" Spiva, 95, of Lynn Haven, passed away on Sunday, April 28, 2013 at Chester Sims Veteran's Nursing Home. He was born January 31, 1918 in St. Andrews, Florida. Jim had been a lifelong resident of the area and a graduate of Bay High School. Jim served as a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was the former owner and operator for Modern Water. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. He was preceded in death by his two sons, Lamar Spiva, Randy Spiva; two brothers, Guy Spiva, Brown Spiva; and one sister, Gladys. He is survived by one nephew, Mike Spiva (Lynn); two nieces, Donnie Savelle (Bill), Pat Bell; two grandchildren, James Spiva, Angela Spiva; great nieces and nephews, Guy Spiva (Marti), Anthony Spiva (Tiffiney), Daniel Spiva (Amber), Trey Spiva, Bill Savell, Jr. (Keidrie), Catrina Savelle, Ja'nay Tampallini (Allen), Joey Bell (Shelly); sister-in-law, Lois Spiva; and special friends, Martha Hammond and Jerry & Vickie Keith. A graveside service will be held at 3 p.m. on Wednesday at Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 6 – 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations are made to the Gideon's International, P.O. Box 685, Panama City, FL 32402 in memory of Jim Spiva.
