Obituary

JAMES PRESTON SKINNER

James Preston Skinner went to be with the Lord on 11 November 2007. He was born in Houston County, Alabama on April 15, 1922 but moved to Bay County in his teens. He graduated from Bay High School and immediately volunteered for the Navy in 1942, received his Naval air gunnery training in Norman, OK and served as an aviation ordinance 1st Class Petty Officer during WWII. He spent almost two and one half years patrolling the Brazilian coast in PBY's searching for German Ships and Submarines. After returning home, he became an automobile parts manager until his retirement. He was an active member of Northside Baptist Church, a deacon, and a member of Andy Amann's Steadfast Sunday School Class. He was preceded in death by his father, A.R. Skinner, mother, Ada, stepmother Vassie, and stepbrother Marion Turner. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Mary Elizabeth, son, Dr. David P. Skinner and wife Betty, grandchildren, Dana Elizabeth, Dr. Timothy Skinner and wife Marta. He is also survived by brothers-in-law, John Jay and wife Betty, Harry Meints, sister-in-law, Shirley M. Jay, nephews Mike Meints and wife Mary, Philip Jay and wife Delores, Dr. Richard Jay and wife Linda, Craig Jay and wife Terri, Jeff Jay and wife Shayne, nieces Brenda Paris and husband Les, Milinda Stephenson and husband Hal, Cinda Khouri and husband Dr. Joe Khouri. Asked to be pallbearers are all the nephews. Honorary pallbearers are Andy Amann's Sunday School Class. Visitation will be at Wilson Funeral Home on Friday 23 November from 4:00 to 5:30 PM. Graveside services will be at Greenwood Cemetery on Saturday 24 November at 10:00 AM.
