James Fredrick Simmons, 83, of Panama City, FL passed away on April 18, 2021. He was born on October 18, 1937 in Marianna, FL. He was a Laboratory Supervisor at Gulf Power Company retiring at 31 years of service. He was a member of the Hiland Park Baptist Church, where he was a former Sunday School Teacher. He was a former Sunday School Director at Northside Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Mallory & Flora Simmons. He is survived by his wife, Myra Jane Simmons; two children, Dana N. Hill (Tony), Tim Simmons (John); two grandchildren, Hannah Hill, Lindsey Boltz (Adam); great grandson, Owen Lee Boltz; sister, Clarice Ann Greene (J.C.); nephew, Al Greene (Betty), two great nephews, Dr. Alex Greene (Julia), A.J. Greene, great great niece, Ali Holt (Jordan) and their children, Aria and Harper. Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 22, 2021 at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Carl Fondren officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens. Active pallbearers will be James McMillan, Mike Falzone, Rick Haqendorfer, John Bold, Tony Hill and Adam Boltz. Flowers will be accepted but those desiring may make memorial donations to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society in memory of James Simmons.
