James Albert Roney, 80, of Panama City, passed away on Sunday, November 12, 2017 in his home. He was born November 20, 1936 in Dothan, Alabama. He served in the United States Navy retiring in 1988 at the rank of Master Chief after 33 years of service. James will always be remembered as a faithful church member who loved his family and friends dearly. Bass fishing was his favorite hobby. He was preceded in death by his parents, Will & Pearlie Roney; his two sisters, Shirley Steele and Jacklyn Gray. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Roney; daughter, Lisa Blanco (Jason); two grandchildren, Elena Nicole Blanco, Brayden Michael Blanco; two brothers, W.C. Roney, John Roney (Lois) and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Mike Jones officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10-11 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside services will be held on Thursday at 1 p.m. in the Barrancas National Cemetery, Pensacola, FL. Those desiring may make memorial donations to Covenant Hospice or the Grace Baptist Church in memory of James Roney.
