James Raymond Mills
Raymond Mills, age 87, of Panama City, Florida passed away March 5, 2010 at a local nursing home. He was born December 16, 1922 in Florence, Alabama and was raised in Slocomb, Alabama. As a young adult, Raymond settled in Akron, Ohio, became employed and retired from Mohawk Rubber Company. Upon retirement, he returned to Panama City with his wife, Ruth. Raymond has a strong Christian faith and enjoyed travel, good foods, entertainment, stimulating conversation, and through-out life had a great guardian angel.
Raymond was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, and son, Ben; his parents, Brady and Net Mills; brothers, Ralph, Vaughn, Ewell (Red), Bud (Huey) and Wallace Mills.
Raymond is survived by his sisters, Valeria Capps and husband, Houston, Nina Pitts and husband, Horace; brothers, Robert G. Mills (Dooley), Frankie Mills and wife, Carol, Paul E. Mills and wife, Valentina, sisters-in-law, Elaine, Betty, and Helen Mills, along with many nephews and nieces.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 8, 2010 at 10 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Russell Ward officiating. Interment will follow at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday from 3 – 5 p.m. The nephews will serve as pallbearers.
