JAMES RICHARD MCGRIFF JR.

James Richard "Ricky" McGriff Jr., 73, of Panama City, FL passed away on Monday, February 24, 2025. He was born on June 12, 1951, at Lisenby Hospital in Panama City, FL where he grew up and worked for his dad at the Isle of View Drive-In Theatre. After working at the drive-in theatre for his dad he became a relief projectionist for the movie theatres in Panama City. This fostered his love for the film industry and movies. His passion for film was with the classics and science fiction. Over the years he also loved to cook using recipes he obtained from his aunts and always trying to master their recipes. He graduated from Bay High School in 1969 and obtained a bachelor's degree in accounting from the University of West Florida in Pensacola. He was fortunate to recently attend his high school reunion where he was able to connect with old friends from Bay High. As a veteran he served in the Army National Guard for 6 years from 1972 to 1978. After graduation he began his career and worked for NASA, the Department of Energy, Florida Hospital and established his own accounting firm JRM Accounting and Associates. He was currently enjoying his retirement. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Richard Sr and Irene Rushing McGriff, and numerous beloved aunts and uncles. He is survived by his brother, Timothy Wayne McGriff (Valine), and his uncle Lynn Rushing (Vickie), and numerous cousins. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, March 8, 2025, at 3pm in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel in Panama City, FL. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 2-3pm prior to the service.
