James M. (Jimmy) King Sr, 88, of Panama City, FL passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2022 at the Clifford Sims Veterans Home where he was deeply loved and cared for during his battle with Alzheimer's.

He was born on November 6, 1933 in Donalsonville, GA and grew up in Panama City from the age of 3.

He served honorably in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict as a Private 1st class and received the National Defense Service Medal.
Jimmy loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church and cherished his church family. He was a wonderful son, Dad & Granddaddy. He loved working in his yard, loved his family and especially loved his grandchildren. He was always eager to help others in whatever task was at hand. In his earlier years he loved to fish and spend time with his family.

He was preceded in death by his wife, the love of his life,
Betty Jean King, and his wife Patricia M. Coatney King; his father Rufus King, mother Connie King and brother Doug King.
He is survived by one sister, Sandy Schmitz and husband Mike; two sons Jimmy King Jr and wife Candace; Steve King Sr; six grandchildren,  Karla Griggs and husband John, Steven King, Matt King and wife Maria, Justin King and wife Tiffany, Wesley King and Hallie King; and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 2 p.m. in the Cedar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Charles Key officiating.  The family will receive friends at the church from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
