The burial service for James Addison Jones III, 86 years, of Lexington, VA, formerly of Panama City will be held tomorrow Monday June 12 at 1:00 pm in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Jimmy (as he was known) moved to Panama City from Charlotte in 1942 when his father-Raymond A. Jones, Sr. was told by the Maritime Commission to construct Wainwright shipyard and the Liberty ships which were built there for the war effort.
Jimmy went to Cove Grammar School, McCallie School in Chattanooga and Davidson College.
It was at Cove Grammar School where he met Boots Brandt whom he married in 1951 in First Methodist Church.
He served in the Strategic Air Command in the Korean War. After the war he moved from Charlotte to Miami where he owned and managed apartments and the Galen Beach Hotel on Key Biscayne. In 1982 the family moved to Rockbridge Co., VA.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years Boots Brandt Jones, children: James A. Jones IV and wife Suzy and Melissa Jones Woolf; grandchildren: James A. Jones V, Whitney Jones Allen and husband Michael, Charlotte Bea Woolf and Brandt Allen Woolf, Courtney Harjung and husband Tom and great granddaughter Margaret Cecilia Virginia Allen.
