JAMES S. "JIM" VESTAL, SR.

James S. "Jim" Vestal, Sr, 76, of Youngstown, passed away Friday, May 18, 2012 in his home. He was born November 28, 1935 in Boone, North Carolina to Claude & Lillian Vestal. He served in the U.S. Air Force for over 20 years, retiring at the rank of Staff Sergeant. After retiring from the Air Force he was a Sergeant for the Panama City Police Department, retiring in 1997 after 25 years of service. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Rebecca Lynn Vestal; and his brother, Allen Vestal. He is survived by his wife, Ann Vestal; four sons, Timothy Wayne Vestal and fiancé, Mitzi, James S. "Mickey" Vestal, Jr. (Cheryl), Cody Lamar Vestal, Richard A. Strickland; eleven grandchildren, Morghan Tucker, Cody Gigout, William Wayne Vestal, Brandy Leigh Vestal, Elyse Vestal, Alayna Vestal, Deanna Vestal, Katie Vestal, Courtney Strickland, Marilyn Strickland, Kyle Strickland; three great grandchildren, Emory, Erin, Jahla; one brother, Samuel Vestal; and two sisters, Barbara VanCannon and Joyce Watson. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday from 1 – 2 p.m. prior to the service.
