James Jared Phillips passed away peacefully from this world to be reunited with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 30, 2023.   Born and raised in Panama City to parents Gayle Strickland and Stephen Phillips, Jared was preceded in death by his grandparents Loyce and Evelyn Strickland, grandmother Rosa Nell Phillips, his father Stephen Phillips, his uncles Jerry Strickland and Richard Strickland, and his sister Kimberly-Lynn Culbrath.  Jared will be fondly remembered as a wonderful son, father, and grandfather.  He is survived by his son James Phillips and his wife Sara, as well as granddaughters Riley, London, Kemoni and Kahalia.

Jared was an accomplished painter and expert all-around handyman.  There wasn't any task or project that he wouldn't tackle.  He loved to work with his hands and with his uncle Jerry.  These two were inseparable, and their work area was always filled with laughter, music, and singing (not their strongest point).  If they hadn't worked with their hands, they could have been a comedy duo.  No challenge was ever a problem.  Both were meticulous in their work, both always tried to do the best they possibly could, and neither ever had any complaints from their customers (apart from the singing).

If you had a need, no matter how big or small, Jared would be there without hesitation to help in any way possible.  A man of integrity and commitment, if you were Jared's friend, you were his friend for life.  Of course, if you happened to be cooking seafood, especially Royal Red shrimp or Triggerfish, then he was also your friend for life, at least until the seafood was gone!

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 8, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Bayou George Cemetery, and interment will be held following the service.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Helping Hands Ministry at Hiland Park Baptist Church in memory of Jared Phillips.
