JAMES EDWARD GLASS

James Edward Glass, 85, of Southport, passed away Sunday, August 11, 2013 in his home. He was born September 5, 1927 in Panama City. He proudly served in the U.S. Navy, U.S. Army and retired from the U.S. Air Force at the rank of Tech Sergeant. He served during the Korean War and Vietnam War. He was a board member and Sunday School Teacher at Southport Victory Holiness Church. He was also a member of the Southport Men's Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eva Hortense Glass; and his parents Roy & Rhodie Glass. He is survived by his daughter, Aletha D. Walter and husband Lawrence; three grandchildren, Elizabeth Ann Thompson and husband Stuart, Brett Walter and wife Alayna, Kellyn Walter; and three precious great grandchildren, Jacob Grady, Kirstin Walter and Jack Thompson. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 5 – 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, August 15 in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Southport Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Lynn Ellis, Walter Ellis, Herman Tatum, Charlie Jones, Doc Obert and LJ Kelley. Flowers are accepted or memorial donations may be made to the Southport Victory Holiness Church Mission Fund, 3928 Scurlock Lane, Southport, FL 32409 in memory of James Glass.
