Jim Poston, 71, was born on December 17, 1949 in Tampa and passed away on October 27, 2021 in Panama City after an extended illness. He lived in Cook Bayou (East Bay) most of his life and worked for the papermill. He enjoyed life and people. Jim is survived by daughters Michelle Sellick (David), Melissa Aitchison (Brian), Melanie DeRamus (Anthony), and Karen Brand (the mother of his children, friend, and caregiver). Five grandchildren – Andrew, Charis, Jared, Matthew, and Kaytlin, three great-granddaughters, and a great-grandson, his brother Julius Poston (Susan), half-brothers Tony Grindstaff (Debbie), Dean Grindstaff (Jannie), Glenn Grindstaff (Candi), Doug Grindstaff, half-sisters Lynn Sizemore (David), Diane Broadwater as well as many nieces and nephews.
Jim was the son of James and Myrtis Poston, and is preceded in death by his parents, sister Jane Johnson, grandson Brennan, and biological mother, Jennie Taylor.
Jim graduated from Rutherford High School in 1967 and was top ten in his class. He enjoyed floundering and threw a masterful cast net. He loved baseball and football, coaching teams for several years. He died knowing his team, the Atlanta Braves, won their first game of the World Series. He was a part of many bowling, dart, and pool leagues. Jim will be missed for his witty jokes, vast trivia knowledge, and love of music.
A memorial service will be held at Living Water Ministries, 1407 Highway 77, in Lynn Haven, FL, on Monday, November 22 nd at 11AM with reception to follow in St. Andrews.
