James Calvert Barrow, 83, passed away Wednesday, March 9, 2016 in his sleep after recent pneumonia illness and declining health. He had been a resident of Sims Veterans Home for the last 4 years. He was born September 15, 1932 in Thomasville, GA to his parents Cecil and Katherine Barrow. He graduated from the University of Georgia where he was in Phi Kappa Pi fraternity. He served in the Army from 1954-1956 as a 2nd Lt. He moved to Panama City Beach in 1993 with his wife Joni. His son and his family joined him soon after. He was blessed with many years of fishing in the waters of the Gulf and enjoyed wood working until his health prevented him from handling machinery. He was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Jane Borowsky. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joni Barrow; a brother, David Barrow (Margaret); his four children and stepchildren; eight grandchildren and step- grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren and step-great grandchildren. As to his wishes he will be cremated and his ashes sprinkled in the Gulf at a future time as arranged by the family.
