James (Jim) Arthur Glendinning, 59, passed away on May 3, 2017 at Covenant Care Hospice in Panama City, FL. He was born in Charlotte, NC to James Stewart and Peggy Ann Glendinning. Jim grew up in Severna Park, MD where he graduated from Severna Park High School in 1975.
After high school he attended Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland, Old Dominion University in Virginia and most recently the University of South Florida
Prior to relocating to Panama City, Jim served in Corporate and Group Sales for the Hilton Hotel in Tampa, FL. He spent many years in boat sales at Treasure Island Marina in Panama City Beach.
For the past decade, Jim held the position of Golf & Club Operations Manager at Sunny Hills Golf Club in Chipley, FL. In that capacity he was credited with several marketing and course innovations that enhanced the playing experience at Sunny Hills.
Jim was a member of Northstar Church and the Panama City Beach Chamber of Commerce. When Jim wasn't working, you probably would have found him catching a local jazz concert, watching sports at Beef O'Brady's in Lynn Haven, or enjoying a round of golf with a friend. He also began to dabble in photography and had his work published in the News Herald .
Jim is survived by his daughters Peyton Ann and Elizabeth Layne, of Panama City, FL, his sister, Carol Glendinning Prier (Bob) Port Charlotte, FL, his brothers, Stewart (Rocky) Glendinning (Eileen) Severna Park, MD, R. Edward Glendinning, Jupiter, FL and Jack Glendinning (Ginger) Taylors, SC.
A Celebration of his Life will be held on May 26, 2017 in Panama City, FL at 10:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be made to the American Cancer Society or Covenant Care Hospice in Panama City.
