Jacobus Cornelis "Jack" Overdorp (12/20/1941 - 12/26/2024) aged 83, passed away peacefully on December 26, 2024 in Panama City, Florida, after an extensive hospitalization. He was surrounded by loving family members in his last days.
Jack was born in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, during World War II to father Jacobus Overdorp and mother Christina Maria Kling, and had early memories of being terrified by the sound of bombs dropping nearby. His family moved to Portugal in 1951 where he attended the International Schools in Lisbon and gained his Baccalaureate at the French Lycee.
Jack was married in 1961 to Coralia Soares and moved to California in 1962. Daughter Cristina was born in 1962 and son Lewis in 1965. Jack was employed by Dresser Industries and Halliburton, working as an underwater welder in many locations all over the world. He spoke Dutch, French, English, Portuguese and Spanish fluently. He was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and then continued his employment with Halliburton as a Mud Engineer. Following his retirement he moved to Panama City Beach Florida. Jack met Helen Pittman Daniel and they married in 1997.
Jack is survived by his daughter Cristina Soares Overdorp, grandchildren Antonio Batalha and Vera Batalha, both of Portugal, and son Lewis Mitchell Overdorp (Lisa) of Pensacola, Florida, Jack's wife Helen Daniel Overdorp of Panama City Beach Florida, and stepson John Daniel (Celia) of Washington County Florida.
