JACK B. SHUMATE, SR.
Shumate, Jack B. Sr. 86, Retired Asst. Superintendent of Pinellas County Schools (Florida), passed away February 4, 2013 at home in Panama City, Fl. He was born in Meridian, Ms. where he graduated from Meridian High School and then served in the U.S. Army Air Corp during WWII. After the war, he graduated from Mississippi State University with both an undergraduate and a Masters degree. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Gloria Jones Shumate; two sons, Dr. Jack Shumate and Ted Shumate; three grandchildren, Daryl Shumate, Dr. Byron Shumate, and Jessica Shumate Henning; four great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
