JACK MILTON GARMON

Lt. Col. (Ret.) Jack Milton Garmon went home to be with the Lord on April 28, 2013. He was born in Tallassee, AL, on June 28, 1925. After leaving high school, he became a WWII Army Air Corps pilot. In 1949, he graduated from the University of Florida with a BS in Forestry. Jack honorably served the United States Government concurrently as an Air Traffic Controller with the Federal Aviation Administration, and was an accomplished Command Pilot with the Florida Air National Guard, retiring after 33 years. Known for his integrity, Jack consistently strove to do the right thing. He served as an Elder at First Presbyterian Church of Panama City. He enjoyed his years with the Panama City Lion's Club and time as a volunteer with the Florida Fish and Game Commission. After retiring, he learned to play golf and enjoyed the game, as well as being with his friends, who found his penchant for humor and clever wit entertaining. He will be missed by all who knew him. Jack is survived by his devoted wife, Ann Garmon, of Panama City, his son, Randy Garmon (Marlene) of Panama City, son, Steve Garmon (Janet) of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter, Jenny Spanopoulos (Chris) of Jacksonville, Florida, daughter, Amy Jones (Steve) of Jacksonville Beach, Florida, step-son, Collins Wakefield (Colleen) of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, and step-daughter, Sharon Brown (Bill) of Albertville, Alabama, sister, Frances King of Lynn Haven, Florida, seventeen grandchildren, and nineteen great grandchildren. Graveside services will be held Tuesday at 2 P.M. at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Choir of First Presbyterian Church of Panama City, Florida.
