Irene Cook Pitts, 95, of Panama City, died Monday, March 31, 2014. She was born July 12, 1918, to W. Friley and Pauline Dunham Cook. She is predeceased by her husband Versie O. Pitts; one sister, Floie Whitehurst; and brothers, Lloyd Cook and W. F. (Bill) Cook, Jr. She is survived by one sister, Lucille Hagans; nieces Charla Whitehurst Boggs, Cathy Hagans, Barbara Allan Middleton (Don); and nephews Craig Cook (Sheila), Ernie Hagans (Dolly) and Andy Allan (Debbie). Mrs. Pitts was a member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. She was a Past Worthy Matron of Panama City Chapter 102 of the Eastern Star. She was a charter member and past president of the Woman's Club of Panama City. The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Summers Landing Assisted Living and Covenant Hospice of Bay Med for the care and kindness they provided to Mrs. Pitts. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Wednesday in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Wednesday from 1-2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19 th Street, Panama City, FL 32405 in memory of Irene Pitts.
