Imogene Helms Vickers

Imogene was born on February 22, 1940 and transitioned to heaven on July 26, 2026. Imogene was the daughter of Alton and Bessie Helms of Dothan, AL. She also had an older brother, James. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, husband, and grandson Timothy Harper.

One week after graduating from Dothan High School, she married her high school sweetheart and the love of her life, Tom Vickers. They were married a little over 61 years! While she grew up in the Dothan area, she has lived most of her life in Bay County. She worked at the Navy Base for 5 years until they decided to start a family.

Imogene is survived by her children, Trish Vickers, and Jim Vickers and wife Suzanne, her grandchildren, Kami Harper, James Vickers, Brad Vickers, Anthony Lee, and Jessica Lee, as well as, 4 great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Imogene was an active member of the St. Andrew Baptist Church and loved volunteering in the church office for many years. She also taught Sunday School for a number of years, including infant nursery. She was a life member and past president of the Panama City Woman’s Club and Sunshine Singers. She was also past president of the Lion’s Club Auxiliary of Panama City.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, July 30th at St. Andrew Baptist Church. Visitation begins at 10:00 am with the service following at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at the Evergreen Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial contribution can be made to the St. Andrew Baptist Church, 3010 W. 15th Street, Panama City, FL 32401 in memory of Imogene Vickers.
