Ida Jeanette Bowlin Branton

Ida Jeanette Bowlin Branton, age 103, passed peacefully into the presence of Jesus Christ her Savior on September 27, 2013. She was born January 30, 1910 in Esto, FL to the late Allen Wilson Bowlin and Sarah Emily Anderson Bowlin and spent her childhood in Bonifay, FL. She married Latness Allen (Dick) Branton and moved to Panama City, FL in 1941. Ida was a member of Calvary Baptist Church for 49 years and was at one time the church pianist.

Ida was humble, loving and never had a harsh word for anyone. She loved to cook and enjoyed having all the chairs around her table full of family and friends. Ida also grew up with a love of music and still played the piano frequently at the nursing home.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Dick Branton, two children, Doyle Branton and Joyce Platt and ten siblings: Audey Bryant Bowlin, Curtis Drew Bowlin, Era Faye Tindell, Grady Hamilton Bowlin, Knola Leantha Doty, Millard Nathan Bowlin, Olivia Penelopa Harriet, Sarah Thelma Howell, Ulysses Vinson Bowlin, and Wilson Xava Bowlin.

Survivors include three daughters and their spouses: Sonja and Glynn Wester, Linda and Charlie Chaffin and Helen and Sandy Atkinson, daughter-in-law, Phyllis Branton, son-in-law, Jack Platt and two siblings, Quincy Ruth Howell and Yon Zirkle Bowlin. She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 10 great great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the Calvary Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Hankins officiating. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. prior to the service.
