HUBERT KENNETH THOMPSON
Hubert Kenneth Thompson, 82, of Southport, died Thursday, April 17, 2008 in a local nursing facility. He was born July 5, 1925 in Dundee, FL and was raised in Marianna, FL. He married Dorothy Shoupe in 1944. He served in the U.S. Navy on the USS Nevada during World War II. After the war, he moved to Panama City to work for Ideal Baking Company. In 1965, he moved to Tampa, Florida to work for Swift Meat Company for 22 years. In 1989, he moved back to Panama City where he built his home on White Western Lake. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Sunnyhills. He loved traveling with his family and friends, fishing, hunting, and square dancing. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a brother, Gilbert Thompson. He is survived by 2 daughters, Patsy Zediker and husband, Fred of Southport; Tracy Corry of Palm Bay, FL; son, Thomas Thompson and wife, Dianne of Palm Bay; 6 grandchildren, Freddie Zediker Jr. and wife, Wanda; Kenneth Preston Zediker and wife, Melissa; Megan Elizabeth Corry, Ryan Douglas Corry, Jeremy Thomas Thompson, Sierra Jane Thompson, 6 great grandchildren, Zackary Zediker, Abagayle Zediker, Noah Zediker, Christian Zediker, Kaylee Zediker, Taylor Zediker, 2 sisters, Muriel Spink, Wilma Barwick, sister-in-law, Ann Thompson, and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Mike Swingle and Tim Long officiating. Interment will follow in the Vickery Cemetery, Jackson County. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to all the nurses and caregivers at Community Health and Rehabilitation for all their excellent care and concern.
