Howard Louis Vanselow, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday August 9th at Chester Sims Veterans Nursing Home in Panama City, Fl.

Howard was born on the Eastside of Chicago to parents Louis and Edith Vanselow. Howard was a long-time resident of East Chicago, Indiana where he retired from the East Chicago Fire Department after 35 + years of service. Howard served in the United States Army and was a Veteran of the Korean War.

He was preceded in death by his wife Katherine "Kitten" Vanselow. Howard is survived by his 4 children; Valerie Comeau (Wayne), Sharon Varichak (Nicholas), Joyce Vanselow (Heidi), Howard Vanselow (Zofia), 5 Grandchildren; Amanda R. Comeau, Dean W. Comeau, Nicholas Austin Varichak, Katherine Vanselow, Jozef Vanselow; also, sister Grace Nowicki. He was preceded in death by his sister Jean Whitman and brother Roger Vanselow. Survived by later in life companion Sofie Olsen.

Memorialization was by cremation and the family will have a private ceremony to celebrate his life.
