Obituary

Howard William Lancaster, 88, of Lynn Haven, FL passed away on Monday March 12, 2018. He was born on October 23, 1929 in Bedford, Indiana to Roy and Nellie Lancaster. He attended Stocker Elementary School. He graduated from Bedford High School in 1948 and joined the U.S. Air Force. He served most of four years at Tyndall Air Force Base, doing claims adjusting type work in the legal office. After being discharged from the Air Force he later returned to Panama City to work at the Naval Facility, doing shipping, receiving and computer programming. He worked at the Navy Base as a computer specialist until he retired in 1988. He was a member of Lynn Haven United Methodist Church where he was active in the educational programs.  He is survived by his wife, May "Pat" Lancaster; five children, Jeffrey Lancaster (Lillian), Vicki Sue Sherman (Richard), Wendy Strickland (Victor), Jonathan Brown (Amy), Joe Christopher Brown (Shelley); seven grandchildren, Michelle Thayer, Dustin Lancaster, Jordan Sherman, Jeremiah Mason (Amanda), Cassie Brown, Mackenzie Brown, Griffin Brown; five great grandchildren, Evan Thayer, Jayden Lancaster, Emily Lancaster, Eaen Mason, Trey Mason; two nephews, Marc Lancaster, John Lancaster (Sylvia); three nieces, Jackie Moore (Danny), Gail Snodgrass (Jim), Suzette Reeves (Rick). He was preceded in death by his parents; one grandson, Jason Lancaster; two brothers, Bernard Lancaster (Esther), Charlie Bob Lancaster (Ann); one sister, Margie Foutch. Funeral services will be held on Saturday March 17, 2018 at 1 pm in the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church with Rev. Doug Pennington and Rev. Jim Luther officiating. Interment will follow the service at Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends on Friday from 5-7 pm at Wilson Funeral Home. Active pallbearers will be his grandsons and great grandsons. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Hardly Able Wheelchair Ramp Construction Crew Ministry at Lynn Haven United Methodist Church, 4501 Transmitter Road, Panama City, FL 32404 in memory of Howard Lancaster.
