Homer Wayne Jernigan was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, son and big brother.

He lost his long courageous fight to cancer on Tuesday, August 10th, 2021, at home with his wife and his two babies, Rocky and Blue, by his side.

Wayne is survived by his wife Julie of 30 years, his children Ashley Lynn (Zack), James Michael, his mother Roberta, his sister Charlie and her husband Lance, Chelsea Jernigan, his mother and father in law David and Margaret Doss, brother in law David and his daughter Loxley along with 5 grandchildren Brayden, Brooklyn, Skyler, Olivia and Easton.

Wayne enjoyed fishing with his buddy David Minchew and hunting with his son James. His passion was coaching youth football with both the Calloway Rebels and Forest Park Raptors. However he loved to reminisce about the good ole days with Fred Pierson, Mike Price and Russell Fisher. Man they could get into some trouble but the stories they could tell today.

Wayne loved being there for his daughter anytime she needed his advice though she rarely took it. He was so proud of her.

Waynes true love was spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren. He loved these babies with all of his heart as he told them when he ended every conversation with them.

Waynes whit, charm and great sense of humor, which he passed on to his sister, will truly be missed but will live in our hearts forever.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday August 14th at Wilson Funeral home. Visitation hour is from 2 to 3pm and the service will begin at 3pm. Wilson Funeral home is located at 214 Airport Road, Panama City, Fl 32405. Please make sure to bring a mask as the service will be held inside the chapel. Following the service, you are welcome to visit with family and friends at the Jernigan home from 5 to 7pm at 8720 Creek Run Rd, Youngstown, Fl 32466.
