HIRAM CLIFTON REEDER

Hiriam Clifton Reeder, born and reared in Southport, FL from May 8, 1919 until Saturday morning, November 19, 2006, when he suddenly and quietly slipped into the arms of his Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. Cliff leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Iris Gainer Reeder, three sons and one daughter: Terry and Mary Reeder, Craig Reeder, Jeffrey and Kathy Reeder, Karen and Rob Maddox; five grandchildren: James Reeder, Lauri Womble and Robert, Adam Reeder, Hillary Maddox and Reed Maddox and great granddaughters, Madison and Regan Womble. He also leaves many special nieces and nephews and four special sisters-in-law, Emma Reeder, Autrey Hazzard, Merle Nelson, and Jean Gainer. He was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Annie Reeder, brothers, Robert and Giles Reeder and 2 sisters, Lucille Bradley and Mary Linton. Cliff was a World War II U.S. Army veteran who served with the 339th Engineer Construction Battalion in the Southern Philippines, New Guinea and the Liberation of Luzon from 1942-45. After returning home he worked with a surveying team before being called to the Naval Systems Laboratory in Panama City, FL, where he worked as an Engineering Technician from 1951-1973, until his retirement. He spent many happy retirement years gardening, fishing, doing odd jobs for family and friends. He also had 10 enjoyable years with the Coachmen Hurricane Club traveling and camping and talking with good friends before having to give it up because of his eye sight-macular degeneration and hearing loss. He enjoyed the morning Coffee Club group with friends every morning except Saturday and Sunday. He was still able to enjoy his garden, riding back and forth on his golf car and sitting to rest as necessary. Cliff was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He will be honored by his sons, grandsons and sons-in-law serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers include The Coachman Hurricane Club, Southport Coffee Club and retired friends of Coastal Systems Laboratory. Visitation will be Monday, November 20, 2006, 5-7 p.m. at Wilson Funeral Home, 214 Airport Road, Panama City, FL. Services will be Tuesday 10:00 a.m. at Wilson Funeral Home with interment at Southport Old Cemetery, the Dr. Dewitt Cox officiating.
