H. FARLEY MCELROY

H. Farley McElroy, 76, of Lynn Haven, died Sunday, October 29, 2006 in a local hospital. He was born October 31, 1929 in Natchez, Mississippi and had been a resident of Panama City since 1972. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering. He was a retired civil engineer with International Paper Company. Upon retirement, he went to work as a realtor with Commander Realty and also was a substitute teacher at Bay & Mosley High School. He was an avid golfer and a member of the Panama City Country Club. He attended the Lynn Haven United Methodist Church, was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Panama City and was a former member of the Panama City Rotary Club. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Haydon McElroy. He is survived by a daughter, Lois Christine McElroy Lawrence and husband, Kevin of Tallahassee, FL; son, Robert Farley McElroy and wife, Lynn of Tampa, FL; 2 grandsons, Matthew Farley McElroy, Michael Thomas McElroy, and 2 sisters, Christine Reid of Woodruff, SC, and Penny Hope and her husband, Roger of Camden, SC. Funeral services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Graveside services will be held Monday, November 6 at 10 a.m. in the Oxford Memorial Cemetery, Oxford, MS. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. Those desiring may make a contribution to the American Cancer Society in memory of Farley McElroy.
