HERBERT HARRISON COMBS
Herbert Harrison Combs, Lt. Commander, U.S.N.R., 84, died Friday, June 5, 2009. He was born March 4, 1925 in Marble, Colorado. He was a graduate of Labette High School, Altamont, Kansas and Kansas State University, B.S.M.E and a member of Alpha Kappa Lambda Fraternity. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the U.S. Navy as a commissioned pilot. He had lived in Kansas City, Missouri and Point Marion, Pennsylvania and upon moving to Panama City in 1971, he continued his profession, specializing in U.S. Navy and U.S. Air Force installations throughout the United States and Europe. He was predeceased by his parents, Richard and Etta Combs, of Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his wife, Joan, of Panama City; two sons, Jeff and wife Judy, of Jacksonville, FL, John, of Atlanta, GA; brother and sister-in-law, Dr. Richard and Brenda Combs of Overland Park, KS; sister, Shirley Considine of La Mesa, CA and numerous relatives in Nebraska, Kansas and California. A private family memorial service will be Monday, June 15, 2009 at Ft. Barrancas Naval Air Station in Pensacola, FL. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Herbert's name to Covenant Hospice, 107 W 19th Street, Panama City, FL 32405.
