Henry Lavaughan Sudduth Jr., 97, of Florence, Alabama, formerly of Panama City, Florida, passed away September 27, 2017.  He was born December 20, 1919 in Tampa, Florida to H.L. and Lannie Rowe Sudduth.  He was a graduate of the University of Florida where he obtained a degree in Forestry and was involved in the National Alumni Association Grand Guard.  He served in the United States Army as a First Lieutenant under General Patton at the Battle of the Bulge during World War II in which he was injured and received a Purple Heart.   He was a retired realtor, owner of a trucking company, involved in forestry and the entrepreneur of the Bag of Gold.  His development of Bag of Gold earned him many ribbons at the fair for his plant and animal food. He was a former member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City, where he was active in the Ed Grant Sunday School Class.  He was also active in the Gideon Ministry and the Disaster Relief Florida Team, where he was deployed twice to Homestead, Florida in support of the 1992 Hurricane Andrew disaster relief response.   He enjoyed fishing in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Annette Sudduth; former wife and mother of his children, Gloria Blackshear Sudduth; daughters, Shawn Sudduth Prather and Alison Sudduth Hardy; brothers, Rowe Sudduth and Gayle Sudduth; and sister, Claire Sudduth Price. He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Kessler (Mike); grandchildren, Erick Kessler and David Kessler, Christopher Prather and Timothy Prather (Patricia), Lindsay Lavaughan Hardy; great-grandson, Silas Prather, and special friend, Janet Gilbert.  A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday in Greenwood Cemetery with Rev. Clyde Ellison officiating.
