HELEN WEST

Helen West, 89, of Panama City, passed away June 6, 2009. She was born on August 27, 1919 in Belleview, Ohio. She attended Florida State College for Women where she met Walter G. West and later married. The West family moved to Panama City in 1963, where Mrs. West retired in 1981 after 17 years at Tyndall Federal Credit Union. Her husband, Mr. West retired at Tyndall Air Force Base in 1968 and passed away in 1978.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she enjoyed the fellowship of the Lillie Pennington Sunday School Class. Helen was a member of the Panama City Women's Club, as well as a volunteer for the Salvation Army and Bay Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary for many years.

She is survived by her sons, Richard C. West and his wife Pam of Charleston, South Carolina, Richards's daughter, Chandra, of Opelika, Alabama; and Robert G. West and his wife Janet and Robert's son, James, all of London, England and Robert's daughter, Monica, of Miami, Florida.

The family would like to express a special gratitude to her friend and companion, Grady Bryant who provided caring love and support for 10 years.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday at First United Methodist Church. Interment will be on Thursday at 10 a.m. at the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Tampa, Florida.
