Obituary

HELEN GRACE PUMMILL JOHNSON

Helen Grace Pummill Johnson, age 102, died Tuesday July 24th in Panama City, Florida. A longtime resident of Dayton Ohio who moved to Florida to be closer to family; Dayton remained her home in her heart. She was preceded in death by her husband, Elmer Pummill, her sons Jack and Robert, and her second husband, Floyd Johnson. She is survived by grandchildren, Lisa West, Christina Howe, great-grandchildren, Michael, Liana, and Andrew West, Karlie and Katie Howe and great granddaughter Aliana West, all of Hawaii. She is also survived by grandchildren, Jeffrey Pummill of California, Joel Pummill, of Panama City, Florida and Jill Ormsby, of Louisiana, great grandchildren, Joseph and Jennifer Ormsby, niece, Kathie Mahoney and good friend, Barbara Cassler. She was an amazing woman who lived by the maxim that getting old wasn't for the weak and you have to stay on your feet. She remained strong throughout her long life, caring for her parents, her brother, then her sons as they approached death. She had a marvelous singing voice and loved music, dark chocolate, shopping, and most of all, being with friends and family. Her liveliness, her humor, her compassion and strength will be missed by all who loved her. Interment will be in Memorial Park in Dayton at a later date.
