Obituary

Helen McLean Gregor passed away 6 September 2021, just shy of turning 94. Helen was born and raised in Dumbarton, Scotland. At age 18, her family sailed to America and became American citizens in the 1950's.

Helen met and married Lt. Robert "Don" Gregor at the Flatbush Presbyterian Church in Brooklyn NY a few yrs later. They spent almost 65 yrs together moving around the world as an Air Force military couple, later traveling visiting family and friends, attending Rotary conventions and taking cruises. Members of Grace Presbyterian Church, they participated with the annual Scottish Festival.

Helen was an avid gardener and their beautiful home was once showcased on the Parade of Garden's Tour. As well as gardening and belonging to the Garden Club working for years with the Azalea Trail Pageant girls, Helen was a life member of the Woman's Club. Her handwork in needlepoint, crewel, knitting and jewelry won many ribbons locally as well as the state level for the Club. The perfect hostess, she loved entertaining throughout her life. Strong, feisty, talented and a sweet lady were words you'd hear when people described her.

Helen and Don moved into Mathison Retirement in 2014. As Don passed away shortly thereafter, this wonderful community became her second family, making new friendships and enjoying life there. A warm and special thank you to our Mathison family. We also wish to sincerely thank St. Andrews Bay and Covenant Care Hospice for their care and compassion in her final months.

Helen leaves behind a daughter, Ann Fleming (Panama City, FL), sister Elizabeth Copeland (Huntsville, AL) as well as granddaughter Katie Halliday (Winter Garden, FL) and 4 great grandchildren. Her other daughter, Eileen Owens, and husband predeceased her.

A special family Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
