HELEN MARGARET FOSTER POPE

1926 – 2009

Mrs. Helen Margaret Foster Pope peacefully completed her earthly journey on Wednesday, June 3, 2009 at home surrounded by her loving family. Helen was born March 13, 1926 in Mobile, Alabama to the late Silas Randolph and Val Zora Foster. Helen lived in Mobile until 1966 when her family moved to Panama City. She was employed by Captain Andersons Restaurant for over 30 years where she was affectionately nicknamed "Granny." She loved her job. Her co workers and special patrons were her second family. Helen was a gifted seamstress and wonderful cook. Her most notable virtue was her unselfish love and generosity for her family, always considering the needs of others before her own. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, Harold Morris Pope, brothers, Slater Foster, Edward Foster, Pete Foster, Otis Foster, LaRue Foster and sister, Esther Walker. She is survived by her children, Carol Harder (Ray), Linda Cato, Kathy Brodie (Robert), Harold Morris Pope, Jr. ( Charlotte), Randy Pope, Abby Todd (Robert), sisters, Cecil Boos, Ann Clausen, brothers, Leon Foster, Milton Foster, sisters-in-law, Theresa McCann and Delores Sullivan, grandchildren, Carrie Newman, Jeffrey Lloyd, Heather Hand, Christina Radizwon, Patrick Antoine, Christy Brodie, Vincent Brodie, Amanda Pope, Michelle Jordan, Jamie Hawkins, Corey Pope, Margaret Rose Todd, Marty Cato, Beth Dysvik and special great grandchildren, Justyn, Nicolas, Katie, Emily, Jamie, Madison, Joey, Blake, Haley, Joy, Austin, Jamie Jr., Ricky and Andrew. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Evergreen Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6-8 p.m. Those desiring may make contribution to Alzheimers Association, 225 North Michigan Ave., Floor 17, Chicago, IL 60601 in memory of Helen Pope.
