HAZEL PHILLIPS SLOCUMB

Hazel Phillips Slocumb, Artist, Florist and Business Woman, passed away February 1st, 2011. She was 96 years old and resided in Lynn Haven, Florida. A memorial service will be held February 12th at 3:00 p.m. in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby's Mortuary Macon Road. She was a longtime resident of Columbus, Georgia, the owner of Slocumb's Florist and an accomplished artist. Many of her oil paintings grace the homes of friends and family.

Mrs. Slocumb was a member of the Sanctified Church of Christ.

Mrs. Slocumb was one of ten children born to the late John Thomas Edward Phillips and Jankey Florence Phillips, of Birmingham, Alabama. She was preceded in death by her husband, Hilton Ashley Slocumb; a son , Ashley Slocumb; sisters , Daisy, Lena Mae, Mattie, Ruth, and Manette; brothers, Edward, James, and Paul; great grandchildren, Georgia Luke and Patrick Luke.

Survivors include her son ,Ronald Slocumb and wife Ruth; brother Stanley Phillips; Daughter-in law, Janne Slocumb; five grandchildren, including Frankie Jones, Ronald Slocumb,Jr. and Amanda Slocumb; three great grandchildren; Sandra Clegg, Matthew Slocumb and Marissa Slocumb; one great, great grandchild Mackenzie Clegg and many beloved nieces and nephews.
