Hai Van Nguyen, "Captain Hai", 56, of Panama City, passed away on Tuesday, July 15, 2008 in his home surrounded by family. He was born in Vietnam on October 1, 1951 and proudly served in the South Vietnamese Army. He married in 1973 and immigrated to the United States with his young family in 1980 to seek a better life. With pride, he became a US Citizen in 1993. Living in Panama City for the past 28 years, he worked hard at many different jobs and established several local businesses-his pride and joy being Captain Hai's Seafood Market in Cedar Grove. He was a devoted husband, father, brother, and friend. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Nhen Pham, daughter, Diem and her husband Matt, daughter, Du, and son, Phuc and his wife Holly; three grandchildren who he loved dearly, Isaac, Aaron and Lily; siblings, Luu, Son, Ha, Nguyet, Van, Nam, and Nga and numerous nieces and nephews, including Ut Uyen. Captain Hai will be greatly missed.
Visitation for family and friends will be at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church located on 1003 N East Ave. on Thursday, July 17 from 4-5pm & 6-8pm with Mass in between at 5pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 18 at 11:30am at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Anthony Nguyen officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery on Frankford Ave.
