Grady Bruce Upton, lovingly called "Daddy Bruce" by his grandchildren, 87, of Panama City, passed away on Friday, December 19, 2014 in his home. He was born October 3, 1927 in Dothan, Alabama to Louis & Louetta Upton. He was a graduate of Bay High School and served in the United States Air Force. He was the retired owner and operator of Upton Refrigeration Company. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and loved spending time with his friends and family. In his retirement, he was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending time on the Apalachicola River teaching his grandsons to hunt and fish. He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Ben Upton and Bernard Upton. He is survived by his wife, Melba Tindell Upton; 2 daughters, Debbie Dean, Terri Nelson (Terry); 5 grandchildren, Jarrod Dean, Jaclyn Welsh (Sean), Justin Dean (Tiffany), Brent Nelson (Tiffany), Brooke Stanford (Taylor); 7 great grandchildren, Kayla Dean, Connor Dean, Kelsi Welsh, Trent Nelson, Brayden Nelson, Easton Stanford, Emma Kate Stanford; 2 sisters-in-law, Ginger Upton, Virginia Upton; brother-in-law, Gene Tindell (Tina) and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. in the Northside Baptist Church. The family will receive friends at the church from 2-3 p.m. Sunday prior to the service. A private family graveside service will be held at Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
