Gloria Lawson Goodreau, 84, of Panama City, passed away on Sunday, November 19, 2017. She was born June 27, 1933 in Jackson County, Florida to Rufus and Clyde Lawson. A graduate of Chipola Junior College and Troy State Teachers College, she moved to Panama City to teach first grade at Tyndall Elementary School upon receiving her degree. It was while teaching at Tyndall that she was introduced to her husband of 60 years, George, while he was at Navy flight school in Pensacola. Over the years she owned several local businesses including her restaurant, Fore N' Aft, where she shared her passion for great food and company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. George Joseph Goodreau Jr.; brother, Robert Wade Lawson; three sisters, Orduna Harrell, Betty Moon and Alice Lanier. She is survived by her three children, Dr. Melanie Walters, LCDR (Ret) George "Trey" Goodreau III, and Dr. Gregory Goodreau (Bridgette); five grandchildren, Christopher Walters, Mary Elizabeth Walters, Catherine Walters, Hunter Goodreau and Kristen Wolfe (Randy); two great grandchildren, Ava and Ellie Wolfe; numerous nieces and nephews and by a very special family friend, Pinnie Hunter. A funeral mass will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 22 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church with Father Kevin McQuone officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Wednesday from 1 to 2 p.m. prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial donations be made to St. John Catholic School, 1005 Fortune Ave., Panama City, FL 32401.
