Gloria Gregoria Gomez
March 19, 1951 – November 4, 2023
Gloria Gregoria Gomez was born in Reynosa, Tamaulipas Mexico. She was the daughter of Salomon Gomez and Bernarda Garcia (both deceased).
Gloria is survived by her daughter, Sylvia "Patty" Farris (Bill), and granddaughter, Jacqueline Farris. Gloria is also survived by her sisters, Juanita Franks (Paul and beloved children Monica and Christy and their families) and Maria Gomez (Her beloved children Tom, Maria, and Salomon Vasquez and their families). She is also survived by numerous other nieces and nephews.
Gloria enjoyed her family, gardening, and had various hobbies, including cooking, celebrating holidays with family, and artwork. In 2009, Gloria moved from Mississippi to Orlando to be with her daughter and family and was fortunate to see granddaughter, Jacqueline, grow from a young child to her recent graduation from college in May of 2023. Gloria spread her love of cooking and her green thumb with wonderful neighbors throughout her life journey. She also loved enjoying coffee with her cherished friends (Liz and Michael McClung). During her hard-working years, Gloria worked tirelessly in the restaurant industry and developed life-long relationships with co-workers.
While Gloria had health problems in her later years, she wanted so much to see her granddaughter, Jacqueline's progress in life and was very fond of Jacqueline's friends that would often visit and bring a smile to her face (Isaac, Alex, Quest, Sam, Tristen, Ziya, Val, and Annie). Gloria was especially happy and proud that Jacqueline had found success in career and love.
Next door neighbors Tony and Filippa "Maria" Margiotta enjoyed frequent visits by Gloria and were true friends always hosting her at their home and filling her belly full with her favorite sandwiches, home cooking, and coffee. Gloria got a taste of her own medicine by meeting someone as feisty and full of service to others as Maria was to Gloria the past several years. Their family was an extension of the large family she was accustomed to celebrating life's special moments with and a blessing to her as she went through a very difficult time with her kidney and heart failure. She will be missed by Tony who always had a smile on his face when she would come sit with them on the front porch enjoying their time together.
Gloria spent many days at various doctor appointments with Elvin, Bill, Jacqueline, and Patty over the last few years. During these visits, the family witnessed her impact on her caregivers. She never went empty handed and always shared her authentic feedback to them about her experience. Her strong will triumphed even until the end as she was able to die peacefully in her sleep at home with loved ones.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, November 11, 2023 at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Bay County, Florida on US 231.
