Obituary

Geraldine "Jerry" Pendley Mathis, 88, of Marianna, FL, died Thursday, June 5, 2008 in Marianna. She was born November 16, 1919 in Calhoun, GA. She had been a resident of Marianna for the past 10 years moving there from Panama City. She served in the U.S. Army as a nurse during World War II. She was a stewardess for Eastern Airlines. She was a retired nurse having worked at numerous hospitals for over 40 years. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Marianna, and a former member of the First Baptist Church of Panama City. She was preceded in death by her husbands, William Phillip Nichols and Chester "Chick" Mathis Sr., and a brother, Jack Pendley. She is survived by 2 daughters, Judy Reich of Chattanooga, TN, Sherill Markham and husband, Johnny of Marianna, son, Chick Mathis Jr. and wife, Carla of Niceville, FL; 6 grandchildren, Brynne Markham, Autumn Marshall, Mandy Olson, Kevin Mathis, Powell Blue, Christopher Reich, 11 great grandchildren, and a brother, Ret. Col. Mike Pendley and wife, Doris of Warner Robbins, GA. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. in the Wilson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Saturday.
